Message from our President, Melissa Pangraze
“As President of Teton Valley Back Country Horsemen (TTBCH), it is an honor to serve this organization on its multi-purpose mission. This is only our sixth year volunteering in the community and our new chapter is striving to create a solid membership base along with a volunteer equipment cache that allows many hands to contribute to our forest’s healthy state.”
About Teton Valley Back Country Horsemen
Our chapter is one of 16 in the state of Idaho that maintains trails for stock use. As a non-profit organization, volunteers participate in trail riding, trail clearing, trail repair, pack trips, and fundraisers. We are members of the Back Country Horsemen of Idaho (BCHI) and the Back Country Horsemen of America (BCHA), but with our own Officers and Directors. We welcome riders of all ages.

Where We Meet
Members are welcome to attend the Board of Directors/Officers Meeting held on the first Wednesday of every month @ 7pm at the Community Foundation of Teton Valley conference room. Join us for our two annual events: The Spring Fling and Fall Gathering. Otherwise, hang out at the trailhead and enjoy beverages with friends after the ride.
Where We Ride
Our rides and work projects are generally held in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest; Teton Basin Ranger District. This includes the Teton Mountain Range and the Jedediah Smith Wilderness Area, as well as the Big Hole Mountain Range (motorized).
Our Vision
To share horsemanship education, connect with fellow equine enthusiasts, and provide a means to familiarize our membership with local trails. We are committed to doing our part as trail stewards while keeping the western riding tradition alive.
Our Mission
To perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in America’s backcountry and wilderness.
To work to insure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use.
To assist the various government and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resource.
To educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the wise use of the back country resource by horsemen and the general public commensurate with our heritage.
